As often happens, Kelli states “Doug, I want to have fun this weekend!”
My standard reply” Ok. What would you like to do?”
She often replies “I don’t know? What do you want to do?”
We usually go around and around and often do something eh or blah for the weekend.
However this weekend we have a few options -City or Country
Here are 2 Options:
-SugarCreek or Northern Ohio areas
to view the Amish and Eat Amish food etc…..
Or we go City -Nashville or Indy to shop and live up the City Life.

So Recently I saw the new Flash Gordon on the Sci Fi Channel with great aticipation. I thought with all the success of the revamp of Battlestar Galactica what did I have to lose.Would I have the chance to relive the fun of the campy 1980 version all over again? Would this be a creative reworking of some great source material.
Well, I’m here to tell you ….. do not pass go and do watch this revamped Flash Gordon. Talk about taking a great idea and flushing it. They did just that. It is Crap with a capital “C”. This show will almost push you to watch reruns of 90210 over on the Soap Opera Channel (that ones for my wife). Please don’t watch this. Lets send a message to SciFi to give us quality TV not some junk ……Flash Gordon a runner….What is the world coming too? They should have made him an Adventure racer at least.
If you like the 1980 version and want to feel nastalgic go get the newest Flash Gordon(1980) DVD it just came out a few weeks ago and I here it’s great.

DOCUMENTARY DANGEROUS DAYS: MAKING BLADE RUNNER
A feature-length authoritative documentary revealing all the elements that shaped this hugely influential cinema landmark. Disc Three
1982 THEATRICAL VERSION
This is the version that introduced U.S. movie-going audiences to a revolutionary film with a new and excitingly provocative vision of the near-future. It contains Deckard/Harrison Ford’s character narration and has Deckard and Rachel’s (Sean Young) “happy ending” escape scene.
1982 INTERNATIONAL VERSION
Also used on U.S. home video, laserdisc and cable releases up to 1992. This version is not rated, and contains some extended action scenes in contrast to the Theatrical Version.
1992 DIRECTOR’S CUT
The Director’s Cut omits Deckard’s voiceover narration and removes the “happy ending” finale. It adds the famously-controversial “unicorn” sequence, a vision that Deckard has which suggests that he, too, may be a replicant.
Disc Four

It includes an altered opening scene, no Deckard narration until the final scenes, no “unicorn” sequence, no Deckard/Rachel “happy ending,” altered lines between Batty (Rutger Hauer) and his creator Tyrell (Joe Turkell), alternate music and much more. Also includes:
- Commentary by Paul M. Sammon, author of Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner
- Featurette “All Our Variant Futures: From Workprint to Final Cut”
Over the weekend I picked up this one. Kelli was at school for an ice cream social so I was on my own.
I found this movie to be pretty good. I felt like it was a little bit Grisham a little bit Hitchcock. There is a twist that is reveled at the end, if you don’t figure it out prior to this reveal then you should turn in your Movie watching card. It is forcasted well in advance of the reveal.
I think Sir Anthony and Ryan Gosling are both great here. Hopkins performance is almost up to par with Silence of the Lambs. I continue to find Ryan Gosling to have impressive acting chops. I’m glad I waited to see it this on DVD. It’s one of those films that leaves you going “hey that was pretty good.”
I hope you enjoy

Filed under: Aaron Yoo, DVD, David Morse, Disturbia, Movie, Sara Roemer, Shia LaBeouf, funstuff
I rented this over the weekend and do to my lovely wife not up for Shia LaBeouf (not a big fan of Even Steven) I just finally watched it alone. It was pretty good.
I had heard comparisons to Hitchcock’s Rear Window, an while I see the similarities the film is more about connection with the world rather than disconnection(My Opinion). There are tons of Hichcockian suspense filled momments but it feels more The Faculty type thriller minus more than North by Northwest or Strangers on a Train.
There are some top notch performances here for this type of flick. Shia’s performance was good but I thought David
Morse was outstanding. I always like him in this type of role. I loved him recently on the few episodes of House that he appeared on. Carrie-Anne Moss shows up as the mom which makes me feel old but I thought her performance worked for the film. Sarah Roemer as the neighbor love interest was fine, I thought she was under used and mostly there for eye candy. I liked Aaron Yoo has the long time buddy. He was really funny and the parts where he’s in danger are great.
If you missed this in the theater then grab it now on DVD. Heck, I think it works as a good comprise movie for one of those His/Her Movies. I can only hope Kelli gives this movie a try when it finally arrives on cable.
Happy Watching,

Look like this one is going to be a real tear jerker.
Here is the basic premise:
Up-and-coming sports reporter (Hartnett) rescues a homeless man (“Champ”, Jackson) only to discover that he is, in fact, a boxing legend believed to have passed away. What begins as an opportunity to resurrect Champ’s story and escape the shadow of his father’s success becomes a personal journey as the ambitious reporter reexamines his own life and his relationship with his family.
Here are a few reviews: over at Rotten Tomatoes -Looking at 85% fresh so thats looks promising.
I like Jackson and I like real life drama -from the previews it feels like my type of movie.
My buddy Chris hadn’t heard of it so I’m not sure it’s being marketed well.
I hope it’s good and I hope when the final bell ring this one is a real Champ.

It’s been a tough day at the office -This is a post to put some good vibes into the world.

So I just read over at JoBlo.com that Paramount is going HD-DVD exclusive. So if you want Transformers looks like HD-DVD is the your only way to catch it in glorious Hi-Def. Doug, what about Indy? I guess Indy is only swing in on HD-DVD for now but I think it’s too soon to tell.
Sony takes the blow then quickly strikes back with it’s line of exclusives -Die Hard and Robocop to name a few.
Sad day for me -Bruce and Optimus wont be sharing the same format.
Great article -take a look here – Hi-Def Wars
So I love movies and from time to time I enjoy a good western. Two of my favorite present day actors are Russell Crowe and Christian Bale so when I heard that they were doing a remake of 3:10 to Yuma I was very excited. The movie comes out September 7th. So count me in for what I anticipate the next Unforgiven
Here is a brief synopsis: A small-time rancher(Bale) agrees to hold a captured outlaw(Crowe) who’s awaiting a train to go to court in Yuma. A battle of wills ensues as the outlaw tries to psych out the rancher.
Here is an early review over at AintItCool
After reading the review I’m even more excited about this latest flick.
