If you’re not watching this show found on the Travel Channel on Monday nights, you are really missing something great.

Mr. Bourdain is that cool friend that you are waiting to get and email from to hear about all his great adventures. Watching this show I am instantly taken to far off lands that I will most likely never get the chance to journey too. And while it’s my burden to bare I am comforted with the fact that I can visit these locations via The Travel Channel.

I find that Mr. Bourdain shows a great level of respect for all the countries he visits and all the cultures he experiences and does this while remaining true to the “tourist” type perspective he offers. I also find it refreshing that he not only visits weird exotic places and eat unusual foods but he does it while smoking a cig and with some real American sarcasm.

It really is a great show. I would love to grab a bowl of noodles with this dude in some off the beaten road small Asian Village while he recants all the cool things he’s seen. Mr Bourdain if you are ever in Northern Kentucky look me up.

Watch it!

So I just read on DVDTalk that one of my childhood movie loves comes out on DVD next week, August 14th. This movie holds a special place in my heart as my first (remembered) experience into the world of Fantasy. Don’t get me wrong I had watched the old Lord of the Rings cartoons at a young age, but The Dark Crystal really did something to me,

Mr Henson’s work here is great. He really was a legend and while I love the Muppets, I really love this movie too.

I recall sitting there watching this movie amazed at what I was watching.

I hope it has aged well. I look forward to revisiting this movie again. I had heard rumors about a DC 2 but alas it was only a rumor.

I pray that you find this as enjoyable as I did 25 years ago.
