So I took in the “must see movie of the week” over the holiday and I have a few things to say;
- It was good to see Dr. Jones again, whip and all.
It was good to see Mr. Buff getting acting jobs -I thought his run in with the law at Walgreens might keep the Buff down. Is this guy in everything?
Having said that -The “Alien” stuff is bad but the chase scenes are good.
The Green screen stuff is bad but Harrison Ford is great.
The story is weak, but the Library chase scene is awesome and fun.
The Sean Connery reference is a great moment -the last 15 minutes is corny and reminds me more of another movie -the one with Richard Dreyfus (no not the shark one).
It was fun. It is a popcorn movie. Take it for what it is.
Refrain from letting the hype tell you otherwise.
Enjoy

I was able to catch “There Will Be Blood” on DVD this holiday weekend and all I can say are a few remarks because anything else would be utterly too much.
Daniel Day Lewis is Great! -Hands down deserves the Oscar no questions.
Oil -is a dirty business -Yes I mean that both ways.
Some of you will hate this movie.
Some of you will -like me -have to watch this multiple times.
Some will think this movie is Citizen Kain part 2 -Yep it’s that good.
———————–
My parting thoughts – The first 15 minutes is brilliant. The Bowling Alley Scene -AKA the “Drink it up” scene is also brilliant.
Last, Paul Thomas Anderson choice of music will drive some to drink.

I hope you “Drink it up”!

I’ve been feeling it. I just needed to write it down so that I actually do it.
This Summer -Thats Summer of 2008 I vow to watch less TV and read and stay active more.
TV has been my security blanket for far too long.
Time for a change.
My plan is to watch ZERO TV during the week – and only use my TV for Movie watching.
The plan also includes -Finishing 1 book a week or sketch and exercise 5X a week -no exceptions.
I wrote it here folks.
It’s out there in the world.
I hope to blog about my progress.
Later -Wish me Luck.

Note: I also hope to rely less on me and more on God to helping me through it all.

So I’ve been driving the ” Dodge Beater” for the last 10 years and 3 years without air conditioning. So Kelli and I decided to pull the trigger. So we’ve been putting away some cash for a car for about 6-7months -AK the Car Fund.
I did the research and we did the car sales dance visiting dealership after dealership. It was Camry vs. Accord.
Our weirdest experience was at a local Toyota dealership. We were driving and were some distance away from the dealership when I looked down and the car was as far past the E as it could go. (We later found out that other people had ran out of gas while test driving there a few months back) Several miles later we puttered into a gas station on fumes as the salesman jumped out to drop $5 in the tank(about a gallon). I was imagining us thumbing it back to the dealership or waiting for someone from the dealership to come pick us up. I guess it could have been a lot worst. But it established very quickly that they wouldn’t be getting our business.
(Also they wont let you test drive alone which I found odd – We were told that they had 3 cars stolen in the last few months by test drivers-Which I found to be an either really sad excuse or pathetic one. Didn’t they get a copy of their license and insurance card?)
So after about 3 weeks of stuff like that, and some really bad sales pitches and weak handshakes we finally decided on the newly remodeled Black 08 Honda Accord with leather interior (Thanks to the wife).
The people at Jeff Wyler were great. They gave us space and answered our questions and were very patient with our process and……………………they got our business.
So now we have a very very nice Honda Accord and both Kelli and I are very blessed to have found a great car that we hope to enjoy for many many years.
Note : We opted for the 4 cylinder over the V6 -due to gas prices -and yes we did our part and used our rebate check for this purchase. Shaking up the economy one purchase at a time.
We can’t wait to hit the drive-in and go on a road trip.

So I recently had the pleasure of seeing this sequel to the “The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe” last Friday and I have to say that it was pretty good. On par with the the previous one.
In this Prince Caspian we travel forward in time – one year for the kids -several thousands for Narnia. C.S Lewis was a genius. What a great plot device. It’s interesting to see the children realize what the ruins really are.
I wanted to note that there are still several Christian elements found within the film which I found refreshing as I did in the first one. Still Good vs. Evil, but I felt that the overall message was that one needs to look to Aslan/Christ for the answers and only then can one truly overcome evil. Doing it on your own just leaves you defeated. I think of parallels in my own life: We I consult God , my plans seem to go a lot smoother. Some times you just need to get out of the way and let God work in your life. Self is never the answer.
So if you are a fan of the first one then I would recommend it. However know that there are a lot of battle scenes and that some of the war violence may not be suitable for all audiences even though this got a PG rating.
My wife took her 5th grade class -which seemed to be an appropriate age.
Per her, the 5th graders reviews were mixed -Some loved it, some liked it, some preferred the first one.
If you see it I hope you enjoy it.

So I Found myself in Louisville this weekend -bookless.
Yes bookless in Louisville.
That being the case I swung by the local B&N and picked up this would be treasure.
I had seen it before and read a review or too. I’m not far enough along to give an opinion but I will say that it seems to have legs.
Yes Mr. House himself, Hugh Laurie, can write. I hope to revisit this little novel once I’m finished with Sharp Teeth.
Here is a review I found online to hold you over till then.
