Bottle Rocket: DVD Release Date: November 25, 2008

This is the first item for my Holiday/Christmas/Birthday List.

Bottle Rocket: DVD Release Date: November 25, 2008

I really like this movie and Criterion do an awesome job in remastering films. Wow what a great DVD cover.

If you haven’t seen this flim here is a brief synopsis:

Wes Anderson first illustrated his lovingly detailed, slightly surreal cinematic vision in this witty and warm portrait of three young middle-class misfits. Fresh out of a mental hospital, gentle Anthony (Luke Wilson) finds himself once again embroiled in the machinations of his best friend, elaborate schemer Dignan (Owen Wilson). With the aid of getaway driver Bob (Robert Musgrave), they develop a needlessly complex, mildly successful plan to rob a small bookstore then go on the lam. Also featuring Lumi Cavazos as Inez, the South American housekeeper Anthony falls in love with, and James Caan as local thief extraordinaire Mr. Henry, Bottle Rocket is a charming, hilarious, affectionate look at the folly of dreamers. Shot against radiant southwestern backdrops, it s the film that put Anderson and the Wilson brothers on the map.

A DVD and a Movie to watch.

This film could have been really creepy. A guy falls in love with a “Sex Doll” and treats it like a real person. This posible creepyy movie turns out to be a sweet movie about family, friends and love. Kelli told me to continue to watch it and I’m glad I did. It was one of the most touching movies of 2008. Ryan Gosling is Lars and he really grows on you. Stick with the movie past the first hour -you will not be disappointed.

Kel and I had the pleasure of seeing this at the Drive-in with “House Bunny”. “Pineapple Express” is flat out funny. Seth Rogan and James Franco are great. I am not a Drug movie person but this movie was really good. A must see for anyone looking for an adult comedy.

A films to stay away from: “Doomsday” – don’t walk but run from this film. If you think the first 5 minutes is pretty good then stop the film right there and take it back to Blockbuster. This is not Mad Max. It’s not  28 days later it’s flat out crap -with lots of violence for violence sake.

Enjoy the other 2 and avoid Doomsday.

Later

Dark Knight almost a trip to OZ

Kel and I took in this movie opening weekend -Even on Sunday night it was packed. I think I liked the movie more than Kelli. She mentioned that the Joker was something that existed in bad dreams.

I thought Christian Bale was ok -Ledger was great -one of the all time craziest villians to grace the Silver Screen -up there with Hanibal Lecter. (Spoiler) The way they brought us TwoFace was sad and powerful all at the same time.

So the funnier story is that once we got there we waited to get in – then we scrabbled to get a good seat. During the previews we heard some rain then some thunder (all part of the previews we thought) then the lights went up and the movie stopped. There was a Tornado warning and we needed to be evacuated. It was crazy seeing that many people trying to fit in the small lobby. So about 15/20 minutes later we were back in our sold-out seat and watching Batman.

If you liked the first one -then you’ve most likely seen it already. I would recommend this for adults and would ask that most kids see this with your parents – This is a dark movie.

Otherwise hope you enjoy,
