Wired Mag has a great article on Comic Store Employees. I have a special place in my heart for this type of article due to the fact that I too was once a Comic Store Employee back in the day. I even got paid in comics which was awesome.
I really miss those days -opening the box of fresh comics up to see what treasures might be found.
I also loved when a Mom came in with her son’s collection looking to unload -You found some great comics in dirty old boxes.
I also really liked it when somebody was talking about a comic and says -you should check out so and so – and then I would and it would be great.
My Own Q&A
What are the best and worst parts about working in a comic store?
Best part is being the first to see a new cover or being in the know about the upcoming story lines. The worst is knowing that the stories almost never ever stop. Also being exposed to the worst story ideas ever. Dare I mention the ” The Spiderman Clone Saga.”
What’s the least nerdy thing about you?
Hum…………..well…………I was going to say my Wife… I guess I would say my car.
Biggest pet peeve about customers?
The guy that never leaves and doesn’t buy anything and actually comments on other peoples comics
What’s the worst misconception about comic books and their fans?
It’s that they’re for kids exclusively; now they’re more sophisticated. And that all fans dress up in costumes and are all couch potatoes.
Why is there such a big crossover between comic book fans and tech junkies?
I think it comes down to “What’s cool.” and right now comics and gadgets are “What’s Cool” -

So I recently started to play this and all I can say is “Great game!”
I did find fault with one thing; say good by to your loved ones because you’ll be consumed with this one for some time.
It’s like a time traveling device – Turn this game on and instantly you’ll see 2am.
The game is really great -Think Madmax with some other cool stuff mixed in. I find myself just playing for a little while and then telling myself that’s enough.
If you enjoy a little RPG and FPS rolled into one then you are sure to enjoy this game.

Last night I had the pleasure of watching a very powerful movie on AMC, A Patch Of Blue.It’s a story of a black man and a blind girl -both finding so much in each other.
This movie delivers great performances by both Sidney Poitier and Shelley Winters. A Patch of Blue says tons about the times both then and now. Without going to much into the movie – I’ll say this – I find that some movies entertain me and some teach me a thing or 2 about myself – This one does both and is sure to do the same for you.
It is a very powerful movie that is sure to move you. Give it a chance and I think you will find a real gem.

I just read if you missed Direct TV’s presentation of FNL Season 3 than you are in luck -NBC is going to start rerunning it.
Take it from me who watched the entire season -It is pretty great TV.

Fantasy Baseball is a crock – no skill needed just luck. My Team was up going into Sunday and then without notice half my team isn’t playing. I lost by one hit. If I had some notice I could have switched a player or two out but no. I now get to play for 3rd -Guess what – … i was in it to win it. So I’m done. I’m not playing Fantasy Baseball next year.
However Fantasy Football is a different story – I have scored the highest score in my league – 2 weeks in a row thank in part to the shoot out in Denver. I had both Kutler and Rivers playing.

So this weekend I have decided that I might just have to do some “Fall Cleaning”. The Bengals like always were bad. They were so very Bad. The Bears on the other hand looked great. I love good Defense. So I am considering changing fromn the Bengals over to the Bears. Both Teams have fearce animals as mascots and both bengin with “B”. The Bears also have that excellent “C” on the helmets that I guess I could pretend was for Cincinnati.
